Fowey – SUP Adventure
Day 1 – Friday (evening) Arrive St Winnow 18:00 onwards (Covid permitting for exact details)
A welcome ‘meet and greet, with trip logistics and timings explained – evening meal and drinks in Fowey.
Day 2 – Saturday (morning)
Shuttle to launch site (Par Sands beach) for breakfast . Leaving from Par Beach and heading along the coastline we will paddle our way on a 8 km route to Fowey where we will have lunch. The Journey is encompasses a beautiful stretch of coast where there are stopping points to stop and soak up the scenery.
Day 2 – Saturday (afternoon)
After lunch, we will enjoy a leisurely 6km paddle up river to St Winnow. There are a number of stops on route, one being in the village of Golant. Hopefully there will be an abundance of Wildlife, Seals and Sea birds, Deer and Kingfishers often accompanying us on our journey
Day 2 – Saturday (Evening)
We will camp for the night at St Winnows Church Campsite where your camp will be setup and ready for your arrival (woo hoo!) The fun packed evening will let you experience some basic camp craft, an evening meal followed by a campfire and beverage.
Day 3 – Sunday
Just before breakfast there is an optional SUP stretch and mobility sessions to get the blood flowing and you ready for breakfast. Once your food has settled we’ll head back along Saturday’s route using the ebbing tide to glide us down the river with ease. Finishing up at Fowey for lunch where we will sadly bring our adventure to a close and say our goodbyes (mid-day, early afternoon).

When and where do I need to be?
Your experience begins on a Friday evening in the quite and secluded campsite within the small parish of St Winnow on the east bank of the River Fowey.
The following morning we then shuttle to Par Sands where your SUP ADVENTURE begins.

This Journey is aimed at people who can competently paddle board and want to take part in a paddle journey/ adventure. The journey is 14-15 km on day 1 and 6-7km on day 2. We will be using the tide on both legs of the journey to make it easier going but all participants must be confident in their ability to paddle this distance.
Bell tents (Covid permitting for exact details)will be provided which can sleep up to 8 people. Participants will need to bring their own bedding for sleeping A Sleeping mat or Inflatable mattress along with a sleeping bag and pillow.
Fowey and St Winnows are both reachable by planes, trains and automobiles. If you are not driving you can fly into Newquay and then there are regular trains to Par station which is about 20 mins taxi to our campsite. There are regular trains to Par from all directions.
Evening camp meal will be provided on Saturday at St Winnows and camp Breakfast on Sunday at camp at St Winnows. Participants should bring food and/or money for all other meals mentioned in the itinerary. We also suggest food for munchies on our journey in between stops and a water bottle for cold drinks (ideally non single use plastic). Participants can of course bring their own cooking and camping equipment if they wish. Any participant with specific dietary requirements please highlight these to us well in advanced of the journey (at least 2 weeks before).
Your safety is paramount. Our trip leaders are highly qualified WSA Adventure guides with advanced first aid qualifications. They are experienced operating in this area and have local knowledge.
Please see the suggested equipment list in the section below. We are happy for you to bring your own SUP, paddle and buoyancy aid however we will provide these if required (along with a wetsuit) We insist on coiled leashes and buoyancy aids.

To have a great experience AND most importantly a safe trip with us we need you to have:
Intro to SUP Course completed
You have completed an introduction to SUP course or have previous SUP experience
PLUS – You are what we call a “Level 1-2 paddler”
You have paddle boarded quite a few times and feel comfortable and in control standing and paddling on a SUP Board. You’re keen to explore and paddle further, you can turn the board and self recover.
